What Do We Mean By A Waldorf-Inspired Education?
Through the Franciscan School System of CHI St. Joseph Children’s Health, both the St. John Neumann School (early childhood and Kindergarten) and the Mary Francis Bachmann School (Grade 1 through Grade 12), provide children and families with a unique Waldorf-Informed approach to learning and development.
We believe that many tenets of the Waldorf Education tradition are powerful and universal to many individual and family belief systems. These tenets help to build the essential foundations for a life-long love of learning in both students and the adults who care for them.
Among these tenets that have informed the curriculum throughout CHI St. Joseph Children’s Health’s Franciscan School System are:
-
That all individuals learn and develop in three realms – Mind, Body and Spirit – and that each element of an individual must be nurtured for us to reach our full potential.
-
That education is best when experiential in nature and tailored to the individual and developmental needs of each student.
-
That our capacities and capabilities are best developed through service to others and the community.
-
That the development of meaningful relationships with both individuals and the community improves health and wellbeing for all.
Together we lay the foundations for a community and a society based upon one fundamental concept: human kindness.
